It's good to see a resurgence of activity and interest in the Banbury List.
And thank you Angela for all the effort that you put into it.

There appears to be a lot of interest in the surname MARKHAM at the moment,
so this might be a good time to see if anyone can answer an old puzzle of
mine:

Nathaniel PLESTER married Ann MACOM (sic) on 1 Oct 1746 in Souldern Oxf. I
can find no trace of the surname Macom and it has been suggested to me that
could well be a mis- pronunciation/hearing/spelling of MARKHAM.

Does anyone have an Ann MARKHAM in their tree who disappeared from her home
parish around that time ? I don't know her date of birth, but I'm guessing
circa 1725. She was several months pregnant when she married Nathaniel,
which might explain why the wedding was in his parish and not hers.

Banbury area.
