Hello All
I am new to this list and wonder if there is anyone out there who has stumbled across my BRIGGS family in Cambs. My brickwall is Robert BRIGGS, my gggrandfather and I am trying to find his birthplace/parents around 1811.
He married Biddie Housley BONNER in Bicker (Lincs)in 1832 and they had 3 children who survived namely Robert,William and Biddie Housley all born in Walpole St Peter,( Norfolk) where the 1841 census has Robert 'not born in the county'.
1845 finds him as a police officer in Prickwillow where daughter Bonner Boon was born and in 1848 still a police officer in Sutton when son Ambrose Franklin was baptised.
Despite their uncommon names I cannot locate any of the family in the 1851 census using either Ancestry or the CFHS index. I do note that the 1851 has a Thomas BRIGGS , policeman, in Littleport. One of his children was born in Walpole in 1840. Could there be a connection?
By 1861 Biddie Housley BRIGGS was a widowed schoolmistress in Mepal with her two younger children. I have been unable to find a death for Robert.
If anyone knows of this family I would love to hear from you.
Many Thanks
Ginny
