Hello Mike,
I have two links with HUNT in my MATHER tree: MARY MATHER b.1761, d/o Thomas
Mather & Mary Jackson, married JAMES HUNT at Great Budworth in 1789.
If I can confirm having broken down a brickwall, she was sister to my
ancestor William MATHER 1777-1858.
William married Hannah ROSBOTTOM (1778-1854), which I have wondered may
sometimes get mis-transcribed/heard as RUBOTTOM.
Hannah was d/o Peter & Mary (nee Boden) Rosbottom, and had a sister Mary (b.
1770) married PETER HUNT, (1769) blacksmith, of Witton, s/o Thomas & Martha,
at Witton 1790. A Daughter Sarah was b 24 May 1790, bapt 13 June at Witton.
(Could James & Peter be brothers???)
On my Bo(w)den tree, I have Mary d/o Wm & Mary BODEN of Northwich married to
Thomas RUEBOTTOM, of Anderton, Flatman, s/o Richard & Mary of Anderton. A
daughter, Sarah was born 17 Oct, bapt 15 Nov 1789 at Witton.
I also have a Humphrey MAYER b.circa 1650 m 1672 to Katherine Wlikinson
Great Budworth. I have found instances where MEYER is a
mistranscription/mishearing of Mather.
Hoping that this may be of interest,
Bob.
