Good morning all,

I'm trying to find the marriage details of James & Ellen Darbyshire of
Ashton upon Mersey.

I have tried the BTs for St Martin at Ashton upon Mersey, with no success.
However, I did find the baptism details of their children. I anticipate
getting access to a microfilm copy of the Parish Records of Ashton upon
Mersey, but this will not be for several months.

I have noticed during my research that it is not unusual for a person
resident of Ashton upon Mersey to be married at St Marys Bowdon. Given this
observation and the proximity of the 2 parishes, I thought I would check
whether there is an entry contained in the Bowdon Parish Records. If anyone
has access I would appreciate any help.

To help pin down the likely period of their marriage I have supplied the
following details.

James was born in Ashton upon Mersey in 1789 and his parents are Philip and
Margaret Darbyshire. I do not know Ellen's maiden surname. Records I hold
indicate that Ellen is the same age as James or 1 - 2 yrs younger.

In the context of their children's births, I guess they could have been
married somewhere in the period 1807 - 1814.

Children of James & Ellen Darbyshire are -
Philip born 26 Dec 1813
William born 29 Jan 1815
James born 3 Nov 1816
John born 15 Apr 1818
Margaret born 1 Dec 1822

The 1851 Census states that both James & Ellen were born in Ashton upon
Mersey.

Thanking you in anticipation.
