Daphne DuMaurier (author of the novel Rebecca) has written a brief
history of Cornwall with photos.. I believed she lived near Redruth, but
not exactly sure. She also wrote Jamaica Inn, a novel about Cornish
smugglers.

This is probably not what you wanted, but I thought I would pass it along
anyway.
