JOHN (or Jonathan) PAYNTER married Elizabeth PERKS at Redruth, Cornwall,
in 1734. They had 4 sons baptised at St. Uny, Redruth between 1735 and
1741. This is the family who went to Amlwch, Anglesey, "to see about some
mines" probabaly in the late 1760's. The copper mines there were not
discovered until 1768 and the earliest Paynter reference in the Amlwch
area is for Jonathan's son Andrew in 1770.
