Hi Carol,
I'm just down the road from Jean, in Ishpeming. We spoke before the
holidays as she had identified herself with Medlyn background. She sent a copy of
her Medlyn file to me but we were in the process of getting a new one. My old
one didn't work welll.
My Medlin was from Sithney, John and Elizabeth Medlin. My grt.grt.
grandmother appears to have been Lucy born in 1818. Evidently she supposedly names
a William Medlyn as my grt. grandfather's father (single mother) in the
Breage listing. He was named Isaac William, born in 1848. He immigrated in
1868 and came to Ishpeming, worked here, then left for Storey County Nevada.
What is interesting is I hold his naturalization papers and they are witnessed
by a John Medlyn. (I have looked to find a connection but not dilligently
to Isaac)
He then returns '75 '76 meets my grt. grandmother Lavinia Bawden Pearce
(her husband was Thomas (Breage) and he had been killed in a mining accident.
She has a child from this marriage named Mary Catherine, (Kate) T't hey
marry in 1876 and on the wedding listing is William Medlyn, They are listed as
living in Breage at the time.
She has my grandfather Francis. Isaac returned to Ishpeming in 1878 and
they followed in September of 1882,
I have been looking for William and family but to no avail.
I am looking for more infor on Elizabeth and John Medlin, Sithney,
William Medlyn Breage/Helston/Sithney?
Lucy Medlin (she is in the workhouse with her brother Richard and my grt
grandfather Isaac in 1851 in Helston) I had alot of difficulty with this as I
kept running into a Medlin with a Medlyn.
I don't know where they went in 1861. Is it possible to have survived in
the conditions of a workhouse for that length of time
What about your John? Do you have anymore information on him?
Jan Neuman(Medlyn) In Ishpeming,
I
