Hi Folks,
This is my first visit to your list, hoping that someone may be able to help
me.
I am seeking any knowledge I can of a PERCY GEORGE WILSON – Place and Date
of Birth unknown.
He married LUCY BARBEY – Place and Date of Birth unknown
Sadly, I have no knowledge of where and when they married, but probably
circa 1906.
Percy (my wife’s Grandfather) is known to have been a career Royal Navy Man,
and was an Engine Room Artificer aboard HMS MERCURY at the birth of his
daughter CONSTANCE LUCY WILSON.
George and Lucy were living at 48 Stanshaw Rd, Stanshaw, Portsmouth at the
time of Constance’s birth.
The only other information I have is that Percy and Lucy had a son Frank
circa 1907, and that HMS MERCURY was a Cruiser, which does not fit the
family story that he was a sub-mariner. I also know that he had retired from
the navy by 1933 (according to his daughters Marriage Certificate).
I only get to the UK a couple of weeks a year, and am only able to get to
the PRO for a few hours each trip. It was on my last visit that I traced
over 20 Percy or Percy George Wilson(s) born between 1870 and 1892 - Far too
many for me to order Birth certificates on spec.
As for LUCY BARBEY we have no knowledge at all, and would be pleased to hear
from any Barbey hunters at all.
