Kissing can be very off putting for some people just as hugging is. I find
hugging far more acceptable and I feel some people miss out when they do not
like hugging. Of course there is a time and a place for these things.

all that!

of course, not the slobbery mouth to mouth as per the U of SSR. Only the
sick-minded puritanical Victorians put an end to this, but you can read,
Fielding, Richardson and even Shakespeare to discover how commonplace it
used to be. These same Victorians also invented the 'kismet' theory because
a real MAN like Nelson couldn't possibly ask for a kiss.

the lips. Which I thought was OK, but there were some very old aunties who
made a very wet job of it. She was also somewhat put out when I kissed my
female friends, which is definitely not the done thing in France. But there
are a good few seconds between a 'peck' and a 'kiss' where you have to come
up for air from time to time!
