Hi Joan, in the 1881 Census 2 Ropery Row is the Black Horse Beer House, which
was in the Sheepfolds area of Monkwearmouth. The Railway Tavern, Bowe's Quay
was not at Southwick. In 'Old Pubs of Sunderland,' it is given as being at
Low Quay. It was probably at the junction of Low Quay and Bowe's Quay which
were in the East End of Sunderland on the riverside, north of the end of High
Street East.
