Anyone with an interest in Darlington may be interested.
The Victoria History of the Counties of England (VCH) is piloting some of
their material on-line at
http://www.englandpast.net/bookshelves.html, specifically Oxfordshire and
Darlington. However, the texts are delivered in XML rather than HTML, so if
you can, use IE v.5 or above.
