....and they weren't all men!
My gggrandma was a keelwoman. My family lived on the riverside at South Hylton
and gggran was one of a number of women who walked from Coxhoe to South Hylton
daily to work alongside the shipbuilders and small local yards along the river.
She must have been a strong, bonny lass to control my gggrandad.....
