Does anyone have access to the 1851 census index for Stranton ( later known
as West Hartlepool)? I would be grateful if you could search for me the
following.

William Smith married to a Catherine (formerley Howell). Could you let me
have their details and any children that may appear with them.

As Howell is a new name, if there are any other Howells living there.
