Thanks Fay
I think that this is another Samuel: There are a lot of Hulberts in the USA
(comparatively) as there were among the very early families to emigrate in
the "Founding Fathers" era (early 1600's) - there were a lot on the
North-East states like New England and New York. As my family comes from NW
Wilts where Hulbert is a common name too, and I have some possible Quaker
links to these folks, this does not suprise me. A lot of people from the
area were "C of E dissenters" who followed William Penn to the USA for
religious freedom. The trouble is that no-one has made many definite links -
and the waters were muddied by a famous family history fraud some years ago,
so any "word of mouth" research in this period is suspect without the
chapter and verse on sources!
This one has a middle initial too - mine doesn't as far as I have previously
discovered.
Still - more evidence for the Hulbert scrap book, which might one day turn
into a one- name study (when I retire!!)
