Dear Robert,
My connection is with Henry Richings who married Elizabeth Allen on 12
December 1819 at Hawkesbury. He was transported to Tasmania (Van
Diemen's Land) in 1820 and never returned, but his wife and daughter Ann
christened in Hawkesbury Upton on 13 May 1821 (he would never have seen
his daughter) stayed on. Ann was with the Allen family in the 1841
census, and both she and Elizabeth were living in Cirencester after
that. I am descended from Henry and his second wife, also a convict,
whom he married in 1824 in VDL. My husband Gary and I will be in
Gloucestershire for three weeks in September and wonder whether there
might be a get-together of the Hawkesbury family history group any time
between 12 September and the end of the month. We will be in North
Nibley for a few days, and then Minchinhampton until 29 September. We
will definitely come to visit the pub as soon as we arrive, but hope
that there might be some other activity you might have planned during
that time.
Many thanks,
Joan
