Dear List,

The will of my ancestor Aaron HALE (c. 1670-1727), yeoman of Ruardean, names his sister Mary JAMES and a debt of £10 that he owed her. I haven't been able to find Aaron's baptism in Ruardean (or indeed any Hales in Ruardean prior to Aaron)so it would seem that he originated elsewhere in the area, perhaps one of the parishes surrounding East Dean, e.g. Abenhall, Littledean, Mitcheldean etc. Having the name of his sister might allow me to pinpoint exactly where he came from and, hopefully, to find his baptism so I am looking for any reference to the marriage of a Mary HALE to a man with the surname JAMES somewhere in this area in the late 1600s/early 1700s.
