Subject: St Mary's Portsea, help please to unravel this problem

Hello Glenys
we have just checked the parish fiche for the marriage below source
CHU13/1D/42 and the chap is no doubt stated as William REX.
Hope this helps,Linda and Tony

I am seeking the marriage of William REX to a Charlotte ?? date unknown as
yet
I found a marriage of William REX to Charlotte STEWART on the IGI st St
Marys Portsea 24 Mar 1844

I found Charlotte STEWART on FreeBMD for this qtr - (others on page
John CAUGHTE, James DANCE, Henry DAYSH, William RISE, William RIX, Charlotte
SMITH

Thinking it would be safer to ask for the certificate of Charlotte STEWART,
(as in IGI entry) I sent away.
I have today receifved the certificate, which although hard to read seems
to be William RISE, mason, of Hampshire St? Portsea (son of Charles RISE,
mason), to Charlotte STEWART dtr of Charles STEWART, sawyer

If there is some kind soul who has access to the St Mary's registers who
can check the original entry I would be very grateful - or if someone could
check the 1851 census to see if there was acutally a William RISE (He is
the only surname RISE on all of FreeBMD for all of Portsea which leads me to
think this may be a transcription error)

If it turns out the certificate I have is incorrect, I will happily give it
away to whoever wants it.
I would love to solve this mystery as my research is a gift for a 60th
Birthday

Thanks
Glenys in NZ
