Hi Rita:
While George may still be in the area in 1861, by that time Sarah was
married to William Robert Willcocks and their first child Evelina Jemima
WILLCOCKS was born in Harting Sussex in SepQtr 1859, so by then their
family had moved from Portsea. Finding George in 1861, then, would only
be useful if he was still an office clerk, rather than a beer retailer -
no way to be sure that the 1852 George is the right one. In addition,
there is no George in Herts with a daughter Sarah in 1851, so the 1851
from Hants seems to be my only hope of finding them together, in a
parent-child relationship. Of course if George 1852 turns out to be too
young to have a 30-year old daughter in 1861, that would certainly
disqualify him as the father!
So if you can find George in 1861 at 17 Butcher street, it may be
helpful but probably only to eliminate him. Unless, of course, he has a
father living, named George, who is an office clerk!
OK I guess I'd better take you up on your offer, if only to leave no
stone unturned!
Regards
