Subject: [King] Strange Transcriptions
Bob Hutchins has been looking at various families and passing on info
to me
Today he sent me this extract from the 1901 census details page for
Edward James Goddon:
Albert William Hiscock abt 1880 Exlins Cordna Baging Stoke,
Hampshire, England Boarder St Mary Berkshire
Alice Jane Hiscock abt 1873 Exlins Cordna Baging Stoke, Hampshire,
England Visitor
the actual image has "Exlinsford near Basingstoke"
the word Basingstoke is quite clear but is wrong as there is no such
place as Exlinsford (unless someone knows better than Google).
Albert William died in Axmansford, Kingsclere so that is probably what
was meant.
A couple of the other entries on this page have also been transcribed
wrongly with South Stoneham, West End having the 'West End' part
added to the next entry so it reads Wolverton Common West End.
It is no wonder it is difficult to find people in the 1901 and other
census transcriptions with ridiculous errors like these.
