I am one of eight [children, that is] of the marriage of my parents. The
tradition in the branches of our family, and those of my friends from even
larger families, is to speak of ourselves in that way, i.e. of one
generation. I've yet to meet anyone from similar situations who places
Mike's interpretation on their family numbers.
In jest, one branch with only 3 children called themselves 'the clan',
whereas we were called 'the tribe'!
