Further to the emails about Inhurst Farm in the "Mystery of George Street" chain...
Hi Nigel,I am not aware of Joseph. I believe that this is, in fact, Joel Hutchins (also tenant of Ashford Hill Farm, Brimpton until 1926).He was my great grandfather's eldest brother. Although Joel may(?) have been the official tenant, I'm told that his son Frederick Israel Hutchins actually worked the Inhurst farm during that time until his accidental death in 1919.Joel was also recorded as "Joseph" in the 1901 census so I imagine he was generally known as Joe and "officials" misinterpreted the nickname. Unless anyone has other information??Hi Audrey,Not sure who the landowner was but a large portion of the area was in the estate of the Duke of Wellington.
The stables are located a couple of hundred yards away from the pictured house -- along Inhurst Lane nearer Haughurst Hill -- but race-horse trainer Mr Chamings does, indeed, live at the farm house. Regards...
