I think the person who wrote to you has it wrong

The full marriage entry from the St Mary Register no. 115 dated 24
Dec 1892 is

John Sourwood, 23, bachelor, labourer, Polhampton Lodge. Fthaer
William Sourwood, labourer
Emily Watts, 22, spinster, , Polhampton Lodge,. Father George Watts,
labourer
Married in the Parish church ......... after banns by Ernest Orde
Powlett, Vicar
Signed John Sourwood, Emily Watts. Witnesses signed William
Watts, ???dey Watts.

One of those lodgers was Edward Wythe, 18, farm carter born
Kingsclere which suggests a cousin perhaps given that George Watts
married Mary Ann Wythe.

I haven't found any Census entry for a John Sourwood so will look
further for a John Sellwood born ca 1871 with father William as I
don't currently have him in my database

Emily Watts was baptised Emma on 22 May 1870 - St. Mary,
Kingsclere, register entry 97, but seems to have been known as Emily.

There was another Emily, dau of Charles & Harriet and it is this one
I have married to John Stares

Marriages Dec 1895: Stares John & Watts Emily, Whitchurch H 2c 476
Births Dec 1846: Stares John, Whitchurch 7 246

1901 Census: Newbury Street Whitchurch:
John STAERS, head, 50, builder's carter, Whitchurch
Emily, wife, 30, tailoress, Overton
Ethel M W Watts, wife's daughter, 9, Overton
William Harry Watts, wife's son, 7, Whitchurch

as you can see from the census entry this Emily was born at Overton
