This information was given in a message to me, it may be of help to
you.

Name of "Joannes" ie John,
since all names were written in the Latin format then ie Jacobus for
James,
Guilielmus for William and Carolus for Charles etc.

If you are research way back and have got unusual names on your family
tree, you may have the name in Latin. Worth a thought.
