I can throw a little light on this couple, John, as this family is of interest to me -- William's father Charles is a 3x great grandfather of mine. Incidentally, if anyone knows the parentage of Charles' wife, Jane APPLEFORD, supposedly born about 1814 at Ramsbury, Wilts., I'd appreciate hearing as she is one of my long-standing "brick walls".
William died at Inhurst Farm, Baughurst on 5-Nov-1920 and was buried at K/Woodlands on 8th Nov. The gravestone states his age as 80, yet the burial register has 79. He was baptised at Kingsclere on 1-Mar-1840 -- afraid I don't have a birthdate.
There's also a Woodlands gravestone for Rebecca ("of Wolverton Common, died 9-Jul-1913 aged 88") agreeing with the GRO death entry you found, but I don't seem to have found a burial register record. I wonder whether the stone is actually just a memorial and that she was actually buried elsewhere (Wolverton?, although I'm sure I've checked that without success).
I haven't found their marriage either.
Regards.... Mike
