John

I can't help with Antrum ALLEN, but I do have this family of MAJORS in my
tree and can provide further information if it is of interest. I'm not a direct
descendant but they have two connections with my TIDBURYS. Thomas MAJOR was
the son of Jeremiah MAJOR and Phoebe TIDBURY. After Jeremiah's death Phoebe
married Joseph HAZELL (born c. 1771 in Berkshire). Is Joseph related to the
Sarah HAZELL who married Antrum ALLEN?

Thomas and Ann Major's son, Joseph (born 1847 Greenham) married Mary Ann
Rosina TIDBURY in 1870. Mary Ann was the daughter of Solomon TIDBURY and
Elizabeth ADAMS.

I have just received an direct enquiry from a descendant of Henry
Allen and Sarah MAJOR who married Newbury RD, Sep Qtr 1862 (probably at
Greenham as both Henry & Sarah were born there)

Looking back at ancestors I have realised, thanks to Berks Marriage
Index, that Antrum Allen who married Sarah HAZELL in 1806 at Thatcham
was a widower. I had originally got the marriage from member submitted
entries on the IGI which didn't have this important bit of info.

It is possible that the Antrim who married Mary Wicks at Tilehurst on
26 Dec 1774 and the Antrim who married in 1806 are one and the same
person.

The Berks burial Index has three Antrum Allen entries
19 Jul 1830 at St. Mary Thatcham age 84
2 Dec 1878 at Holy Trinity, Theale age 88
26 Jan 1909 at St.Mary Greenham age 68

of these only the first fits both the Antrims in my database as the
second entry gives a birth ca1790 which is too late for a marriage
in 1806 let along a previous marriage.

I am wondering if Antrum born 1746 could be a son of John & Elizabeth
who had two children in Tilehurst (1758 and 1760) There are 3 Antrums
in his descendant tree.

How I wish it was easy to get to Reading RO ????? so if anyone has any
info on this Allen line I'd welcome it
