Is there a kind soul on this list who is going to the Portsmouth City Records Office or the Hampshire Records Office who would be willing to look up a marriage for me? The marriage occurred 24 Feb 1839 at Portsmouth St. Thomas between Thomas Bolton CUMMINGS and Margaretta Evens (Evans) SANDERS. The Marriage Index reads: CUMMINGS, Thomas Bolton; Portsea Island; 7; 208; Mar 1839. It would appear to me that Margaretta had married before and I am hoping that there is information included in this marriage entry which will prove that.
Is SANDERS a common Portsmouth name? I believe that Margaretta was from Wales but I may be completely off track. Any help would be much appreciated.
