hello List -

My second cousin Elizabeth and I are looking for our Grandmothers` sister - Maud Maria STARR - of Cinderhill, Nottingham.

Our work has brought us down to Bournemouth - where in September 1894 - the little girl aged 3 years died at Springfield, Lansdowne Road, Bournemouth of `asthma 3 days Probably spasm of the Glottis` - as per death certificate which I received today by post.

Could anybody tell us what `Springfield` was - a Hotel/Guest House, Hospital??

And - we thought - what a distance to travel - from Nottingham to Bournemouth in 1894 - we wonder she was taken `for the air` because she was so poorly??

regards and thanks for any info which will be gratefully received

Jo in Nottingham and Elizabeth in Looe.
