I was so surprised when I typed in William Pearce born Dorset on 1871 census on Ancestry.com last week.
Only 1 came up and lo and behold it was MY FAMILY!! Such luck!
Not where I expected them to be.

I found my Pearce family on the 1871 census at Alderham Hall, Morville near Bridgnorth Shropshire working as coachmen to the Acton family-who were a Catholic family.

I would now like to find them on the 1861.

On the 1851 George Pearce born Alderbury Wilts was working for the TichbornesHampshire.
Is he still there in 1861? or at Alderham Hall. Or with another family

His wife Alice and children William then 9 Thomas Francis 6 and Mary Ann 4 were still at the Tichbornes other house at Upton Poole Dorset.
Alice died in 1856--what happened to the children--by 1861 they may all be in service and anywhere in the country.
They might quite likely be working for a Catholic family.

In 1864 William [Joseph] Pearce married Eleanor Heaton from Linton on Ouse in Yorkshire.
Was he working near there or was she working away from home ? She would be 22/3 in 1861.

Would like to know about her family in Linton and her brother William HEATON--Tailor --and his family .
Amelia born 1858 was to become Williams second wife in 1881 and my great grandmother--in Paddington London.
He was in Dorset mews and domestic Coachman to a family who lived --at times in London. Was it still the Acton/Alderhams?
On the 1881 he has Edwin aged 16 born in Yorkshire and Mary aged 2 born in France--the Actons went to Cannes --was she born there?
Were ther any other children between 1871 and 1881?

Keeping tracks on this family has been a real puzzle and so I am hoping that this last piece of the jigsaw might fall into place.

So I am asking 5 different County Lists if they can help me in my quest.

Thank you i anticipation

Sue
