Hi all i have just been looking around the Hants PRO records and have found
one of my family

Item
FindingNo Q21/6/1
Title Roll of qualifications of Deputy Lieutenants and officers of the militia
Date 3 Oct 1769-6 Jul 1829
Description Enrolled 12 July 1829
Details as follows:

Thomas Leach, esq, Lieutenant in North Hants Militia, Captain in North
Hants Militia; qualification: eldest son and heir apparent of Thomas Leech
of Upton Gray, Weston Patrick, South Warnborough, Hoddington and Mattingley
in county of Southampton, Louth in Lincolnshire, Stroud in the county of
Kent, and St Saviours Southwark in Surrey (£400pa), 1809.

It appears that this family had land in Weston Patrick, South Warnborough,
Hoddington and Mattingley in Hampshire. (The ones in Louth Lincolnshire,
Stroud in Kent and St Saviours Southwark were settlement estates from
Thomas Leech the elder's wife - Ann Charlotte Lawley and were broken by law
in 1818 - i have the papers for these)

I also have a George Leech b 1669 Yateley (g-g grandfather of Thomas Leech
above) :Father James Leech of same. James was however also described as of
Elvetham, and may have been from Dogmersfield. George died there in
Dogmersfield in 1732. A Mrs Leech - a widow died there also in
1728. From the Hants burial disc i purchased i have a James Leech died in
Crondall in 1704 These places tie in with family papers.

So really i would love any reference to the Name
LEECH/LEACH/LECHE/LEECHE/LEACHE/LEATCH that anyone comes across in the
parishes of Yateley, Elvetham, Dogmersfield, Mapledurwell, Crondall,
Odiham, South Warnborough, Weston Patrick, Hoddington and Mattingley.
ESPECIALLY around the parishes around Yateley for the years 1600-1800. I
have the Upton Grey records. I think all the Leech family in this part of
Hampshire are related.

Any help would be very much appreciated with this - it is a monumental task
but little bits tie in with verifying proof every now and again.

Kind regards

Jo Sunbeam
