I am new to this list as I have just found my first Hampshire relation!
After much searching I have found my 3x g grandmother in the 1871 census
living with her daughter's family in Exning, Suffolk (she was Sarah Carter -
nee Stent b abt 1797, mistranscribed as Caster). However, her place of birth
in the census is down as 'Hampshire, Sutton' but I cannot find this place
anywhere. I have tried Genuki etc - does anyone have any ideas please? I
cannot use any of the other census to find her birth place as she married
Richard Carter in St Marylebone in 1827 and moved in 1835 to France where
she lived until her husband died in 1870 and she died before the 1881
census.



As someone else suggested, there may be someone on this list missing my
Sarah Stent as she left home straight after she married, never to return!



Any ideas will be very gratefully received, as until I find her birth I am
unable to go back any further on this line.
