Hello from the United States!

My husband (English) and I (American) are researching his family tree. We
are in New York most of the year, but try to make a bit of progress when we
are back in Britain once or twice a year. We are new to the Hereford list.
In our searching, we have been told that my husband's great-great
grandfather was the Mayor of Hereford at one time, we are not exactly sure
about the date. It is possible that he was mayor any time between 1890 and
1920. His name was George Reynolds. He was born in 1849.
Is there anyone out there who might be able to tell me if this information
is true and what dates he actually was the mayor? Or alternately, is there
anyone who might be able to point us in the right direction where we could
obtain this information?
