Subject: [HEF] I need some help with this Will please.
Date: Wed, 21 Mar 2001 22:06:24 EST

In the Ludlow area of Shropshire this original Will was found. There is no
record of it on microfilm due to it's poor condition but we were able to get
some information from it so if you can help, please do.

Edmund Waring, Will dated May 5th, 1742. Died in Bishop'sCastle, describes
himself as a Gentleman, and was 'very well to do.' We could only glean the
odd thing from the Will due to its atrocious condition. It appears he only
had one son, Robert Waring, the sole heir, who was under 21 at the time of
the Will, and so apart from 1000 pounds he gives to his 'dear wife Anne
Waring' all the rest - as far as I can see-went to Robert Waring, but in the
'trust of my dear friend Robert More'. If Robert snuffs it before he turns
21 it goes to ..... I don't know, can't read it, except that 1000 of it goes
to the son Walter Waring, of my kinsman (probably cousin), another Robert
Waring.

It was witnessed by Thos. Richard, Clerk, Brian Cole Jr., Richard Vaughan.
I'm becoming more and more convinced that, prior to our Edmund Waring b. 1722
there were very few Waring's in the Herefordshire area and that they came
from somewhere else, Probably Shropshire. One interesting thing about the
above Will was that it was obviously contested, and ended up in Chancery
(which would have taken years, but will be recorded). Was there another son?
The dispute seems to have been between Robert More, Esq. & others v. Robert
Waring and Walter Waring v. Thomas Sherwood, Richard Vaughan, Gent. Dr. Caleb
Hill, and Brian Cole-clerk. What a fight that must have been.

Can anyone help with this please? This may be my missing link.

Renee Waring
