I wonder if anyone has access to parish records for Ledbury?
I have the marriage of my ancestor Elizabeth HOOPER to Joseph PARTRIDGE in
20th January 1817 in Ledbury from the IGI. Also on the IGI there is the
marriage of another Elizabeth HOOPER in Ledbury 'about 30 DEC 1813', to a
John PITT. The reference to 'about 30 DEC 1813' seems strange as this is an
extracted reference and not a patron's submission and I wonder whether this
might be because the register is spoiled in some way so that the precise
date of the month is missing.
My problem is that there are 2 Elizabeth HOOPERs who might be my ancestor,
both baptised in Ledbury, one on 16th April 1786 and the other on 14th
October 1798. On the face of it, it would seem that the older Elizabeth
HOOPER was the one who married John PITT in 1813, but I can't be sure. Some
time ago I received details of Elizabeth PARTRIDGE (nee HOOPER) in the 1851
census index and I believe her age is recorded as 62. I would be very
pleased if anyone could find an Elizabeth PITT in 1851 aged around 65 or
could confirm the details for my PARTRIDGE family in Eastnor in 1851 with an
Elizabeth PARTRIDGE aged 62. This might help me relate each Elizabeth
HOOPER to a specific family. Of course it may even be the case that one of
the Elizabeth HOOPERs might not have survived infancy.
Hoping someone might have a few clues to solve my dilemma.
Many thanks from Carol in Berkshire, UK
