Although he is only recorded in the burial register at Much Hadham under his
bare name, no age, etc, I believe that this is John born Standon 1746.

Both he and his sons seem to have been wealthy (by the standards of the
time) and I am surprised not to have been able to find a Will or Admon.

I know that some pre 1858 Much Hadham wills are recorded in various
registries, but searches have so far failed: can anyone suggest any further
places to search?
