Hi again to the list,
Sorry I neglected to provide a subject name for the post I sent yesterday. Fearing no one would open it as it had no title I have posted it again. see below
Thank you for your patience

Hi All,
I am from downunder Australia so need to be pointed in the right direction to obtain more info or verify the info I have re my ancestor John Merrill/Murrell and his family
John Merrill/Murrell was born 10 Oct 1776 son of Henry Mirrell and Bridget Hinch/Inch and was tried in Huntingdon 1807 and transported to Port Jackson (Sydney) Aust. arriving 27 Feb. 1810 his convict records here have not survived. He died in Tasmania, 29 May 1861 a reasonably prosperous man
His father Henry was buried on 9 Aug. 1818 Stilton Huntington and his mother Bridget was buried 4 Jan 1804 St Mary's Anglican Church Stilton.
He had five siblings
Ann Merrill born 2 Oct 1768
Henry Marrall born 31 May 1770
Matthew Merril born 19 April 1772
Samuel Myrrell born 19 June 1774
Mary Murrell born 3 Nov 1782
As you can see the spelling of the names varies
I am particularly interested to find any record of his trial or a newspaper report if any exists (I have not been able to find out from this end what his crime was, he was transported for life. Transportation for life was the most severe of penalities) and would like to be able to verify via parish records etc. the info I have, and of course if possible find out more about his family.
Hoping someone can give me a clue as to how to achieve this
Cheers
