I have purchased the London censuses 1871, 1891 and 1901 on CD rom. The drawback though is that they do not have a surname index and unless you know the address where your ancestor was living at the time of the census they are not much use. I have checked many addresses found on BDM certificates but as they moved about so much, I often cannot find them as they have moved on.

The producers of the CD roms are producing surname indexes gradually but charge £5 for each edition. I have paid £15 so far for 3 updated editions of the 1891 surname index which is still no way complete and have decided that enough is enough.

I also belong to the Kent Family History Society and our local branch has purchased the CD roms for the use of its members.
