Subject: [ENG-KENT-NWKFHS] Help needed GREGORY/BROMLEY marriage
Date: Wed, 23 May 2007 05:51:49 EDT

I have spent more than 25 years trying to find a marriage between my Great
Grandparents John GREGORY and Mary Ann BROMLEY

my records show 1871 Census RG10.921: M.A. Bromley age 31 bn East Peckham.
An unmarried cook Living at `The Rectory,' Halstead as a cook to the Rector
Thomas B Sikes and his family.

Also in the 1871 census: RG10.878.89.25. John Gregory a Carpenter aged 31,
lodging at `Worlds End' Chelsfield with his sister Susan Morgan and her family.

And on the 4th of October 1871 Their first child James William Gregory was
bn at Hadlow. On the certificate she describes herself as Mary Ann Gregory.

There is no record of any marriage in the official records. Having realised
that they probably did not marry, I just wonder if any records could have got
lost, or wether the rector at Halstead could have married them.

I wonder if anybody has any ideas, or wether I should accept the fact that
they did not Marry
Thanks in anticipation.
