Hi Doreen,
How exciting! I don't have a lot on the Guests and Gregory's yet, but
here goes.
The first Guest to appear in my line was Elizabeth, who married Alexander
Mort, Sept. 28th 1771 at Leigh Parish church.
Children:-
Thomas 1772, twin Mary 1772,
Margaret 1774, Catherine 1776, Ann 1779, Margaret 1779, Adam 1782, Ellen
1787.

Mary m. James Scholefield at Leigh on Feb 9th 1796.
Children:-
Peter 1817, Ann 1821, Thomas, William, James, Sarah 1830, Henry, Mary,
Maria, Alice 1841.

Ann Scholefield b. born abt. 1821 Atherton Lancs. married James Guest b.
abt. 1821 Shakerley, Lancs. In 1851 they had Alice, Daniel, Richard and
Sarah Ann - census taken in Tyldesley. Another son, James, was christened 26
Feb 1860 St. George's Church Tyldesley.

Alice Schofield took on her grandmothers surname, and married Adam
Pendlebury as Alice Schofield Guest, at Atherton Parish church on May 10th
1880. She was 10 years older than Adam.
They had a son, Bertram, b. 1880/81, and in 1881 were living at 74 Dan Lane
Atherton.

In 1881 James and Ann Guest were living at 20 Lime St. Tyldesley Cum
Shakerley, Lancs. They had no children with them.
Their son Richard had married a Sarah Ann Clarke and in the 1881 census they
were living at 186 Shuttle St. Tyldesley Cum Shakerley, Lancs with
children:-
Joseph A. 9
Alice A. 7
James 3
Mary E. 2
John 7 days old?
Sarah's mother, Mary Clarke age 70, was living with them, and a lodger
William Ashmore.

Mary and James Schofield are my g.g.g.g.grandparents.

A possible connection here? One of Mary and James' children, Sarah, married
a Thomas HILTON. Any chance that could be, or led to your HINTON?

Anyway Doreen, thats it so far - now you know why I want these Guests on
more census returns!
Will hope that we can connect somewhere - it would be nice to have another
cousin!
Warm regards,
Pauline
