Hello Doreen
Thanks for replying and your help on this.
Yes! I do have these marriages. The first two at Long Street are two
brothers marrying two sisters despite the different spellings of the
girls surname
William Sanders was my husbands gtgrandfather. My father in law was
Harold Pomfret Sanders.
I sent for the certificate for William's marriage and the Chapel is down
as Wood Street Methodist Chapel but a friend has told me that it later
became Long Street Chapel. How true is this and if so when did the
change occur?
William's father,Josiah, is no longer a silk weaver but a groom and
domestic servant on the marriage certificate living at Suffield St,
Middleton. Would there be any large houses nearby where he would be
employed?
Just in case anybody on the list is interested the names of the other
brothers and off spring are (all non-conformist!)
Elijah, Samuel, Hezekial, Thomas
and Urzia, Susanna, Sarah, Mary and Joseph!
Regards
Jean
