I, too, am researching BARRETT in Rochdale and Ashton-under-Lyne. My line
goes back to Thomas Barrett (b. 1787) married Jane (?), They lived in Drake
Street.
I have access through our Family History Center of church records from
Rochdale St. Chad's.

I know what you mean about researching from a distance; I live in the United
States.
