Hello All.
1891 Lancs Census Index
Last week I purchased the new Lancashire 1891 S&N Version 3 Index cdrom from
eBay, due to impatience and my auction weakness, I actually paid more for
it, than I would if I had bought direct from S&N supplies, I should check
original prices before I bid
Having suffered with the large PDF file all week, I have now re-indexed from
the PDF file into an msaccess database for my personal use, its lots easier
to search the content in an access database format than in the 16,000 page
Adobe PDF file which they put onto the cdrom.
<rant>
Why do the S&N supply these index's in only PDF and not txt or other formats
to allow people some choice, and maybe easier searches etc.
</rant>
Anyway, now i have this index easily searchable, if anyone wants me to
lookup 1891 people, give me a shout, and I will go digging for you.
Newton in Makerfield History - J H Lane
I am looking to purchase a copy from anywhere the John Henry Lane 1910>14
books, History of Newton in Makerfield, and Newton in Makerfield in Photos
and Verse, if anyone has either of these books, or sees the originals for
sale online anywhere, could you please let me know.
I have the edited recent peter riley version, but when i get a copy of the
original, I plan to OCR Scan the whole books text, and put it online, I
believe the original text/formatting is now out of copyright, So I want to
include it as readable/searchable in the Newton website.
