The Reference, folio and page numbers given tell you exactly where the entry is on the census. Very handy when you are looking for an entry in any other census but since the 1881 census is available on CD-Rom, it is easier to do lookups by name and birthdate (if
known).
The CD's are indexed so they can be searched by town, date of birth, surnames etc.

If you need any other lookups on the 1881 census, let me kow I will be happy to oblige.
