The street was Spofforth Road that took a pounding, it had the Co-op livery
stables, I think that the horses were untouched.
We lived on Cambridge street and took the blast which blew in the parlour
window, the frame, the whole works.
I believe a navy bomb disposal man got awarded the highest possible medal
for his courage.
Nights to remember, we spent a lot of time in the community underground air
raid shelter in Piggy Much Square.
