For information purposes: The common wealth War Graves Commission does not
list everyone killed during the war. When our house in Gloucester Road,
Bootle was destroyed on 20th October 1941, so was the whole block, except
for two houses. They did not get us out until the following morning and one
of my brothers was critically injured, so we went straight to the Hospital
with him. (Luckily he did survive). Since we didn't save anything, we went
away to live somewhere else, without finding out about everyone who was
killed. Our next door neighbour and next door, but one were, killed and we
found out about some others later. I looked in the War Graves Commission
site and only found one of them. One factor may have been if the casualty
died later.
Hope this may help anyone who may be looking for someone without finding
them.
Michael.
