I know! It's a wonder any of our ancestors survived, reading through the old
papers and records brings it home even more doesn't it? ! terrible working
conditions, poisonous make up, diseases and all and they couldn't even relax
over a nice pint of beer without that being laced with arsenic!
Posted an article from the Manchester Courier 1901 to lankygen yesterday
about the Beer Mystery of 1901 and some inquests on Lancashire victims, if
anyone who is not on that list (LANCSGEN) would like to see it let me know. I
understand there were a number of victims nationwide who were poisoned by
Beer at that time. There's more about the story here:
