Hi Michelle,
The question is, was there a census taken in South Africa in 1901...how would they go about taking names if they are scattered all around the areas fighting the Boers. I suppose they would have something on the hospitals located nearby the battlegrounds? Yet to learn this. We'd have to find ourselves an historian.
But yes, I will let you know if I find anything.

If you get a reply about census during the Boer War off line, would you let me know as well. I had a g-aunt that served at a hospital in Preiska during the war as a nurse, and I can't find out anything about her during those years.
