Hi All,
All those phrases coming back, some I still use but could not bring them to mind to contribute!
My mother used to say "You'll get your eye in a sling" as a threat, but I "heard" it as "You'll get an iron asling" still threatening.
She is from Scotland Road, whereas I am from Wavertree and we speak differently there.
According to some people with well tuned ears, there different dialects of Scouse, north/south/ east/over the water, proddy dog or catty cat. One of the examples used was the difference between Cilla Black's (Scotland road) accent and John Lennon's (Woolton).
Fred Jones in hot Johannesburg.
