I am forwarding this information, a partial message, in the hope that it
might help you with your French Canadian search. It may be only
Catholic, however. You look for surnames.

I know there is also a French Canadian library in Manchester, N.H. Maybe
a Google search will turn it up.

This appears to be a non-PDF version of Tanguays's Genealogy Dictionary,
at least the opening contents pages for each volumes.

It appears your ancestor was named AYOT (HAYOT) not AOYT as in Pamela's
messge.
