I am trying to find out more about my Gt gt grandfather John HARRISON. He
was born to a single woman, Mary HARRISON and I know that she later married
but John was not, presumably, the son of her husband as he was not included
in his Will.

On the 1891 census John is married to Elizabeth (nee BARTON) and living at
Dwerryhouse Lane. His age is given as 38 making him born c1853.

On the 1861 census there is a John HARRISON listed as Grandson aged 9 born
Sefton. He is living with Ann MOORCROFT a widow aged 60 b Sefton and her
daughter and son in law - Thomas CROSS son in law married aged 35 b West
Derby, Mary CROSS daughter married aged 30 b Sefton, John HARRISON grandson
aged 9 b Sefton and Ann CROSS granddaughter aged 1 b Sefton.

By 1871 Mary has died and the family is still living with Ann MOORCROFT, at
Sefton Town Lane - Ann is now 72, Thomas is 46 and a widower, and there are
3 grandchildren, Ann aged 11, Ellen aged 7 and Thomas aged 3.

I haven't been able to find the Cross family on the 1881 census yet but
would be interested in hearing from any other listers who can connect to
this family.

John HARRISON is living with his father in law on the 1881 census, at
Stopgate Lane/Strawberry Lane - George BARTON aged 69 Farm labourer, John
HARRISON son in law aged 28 b Litherland, Elizabeth HARRISON daughter
married, Mary and George grandchildren aged 3 and 1.
