Hi Wendy

But William's mother was Ellen, not Jane, surely?

1851 Census
HO 107/2181 folio 715 page 3
1 Court, 1 House, New Bird Street, Liverpool
Thomas LYONS, head, 47, rope maker, LAN Liverpool
Isabella, wife, 37, LAN Liverpool
Catherine, daur, U, 20, LAN Liverpool
Henry SMYTH, lodger, U, 51, lock porter, IRELAND
Sarah, lodger, U, 21, servant, IRELAND
Ellen HORSNER, lodger, U, 23, dressmaker, London
Jane WISE, nurse child, 6 months, CHS Birkenhead
Ellen JONES, nurse child, 7, LAN Liverpool

New Bird Street is off St James Street, in the shadow of the Anglican
Cathedral. Was less than half a mile away from Wolfe Street, where Jane
McCABE (nee JONES) and her 17 year-old daughter Ellen were living at the
time of the 1861 Census?

Regards
Gordon
